extracurriculars

To stay engaged with my community, I joined UW Computer Science Club, progressing from Event Coordinator to Senior Events Lead Coordinator. To be affiliated with my heritage, I practiced Kathak for 9 years, an Indian classical dance form. I'm an active Bollywood Hip-Hop choreographer in UW Dhamaka. Moreover, I am learning ASL from the Renison Continuing Education. My motivation stemmed from a desire to connect with the ASL community and contribute to them through my IASLR project. I co-founded NEO Club in high school. For a deeper insight into all my extracurricular involvements, feel free to read the descriptions provided below:

UW Computer Science Club (CSC)

UWaterloo CS Club aims to unite the CS community and support the undergraduate experience. In the events team, we are responsible for brainstorming new and creative events that uphold CSC's 3 pillars: Academic, Career and Community.

Notable events that I led include Google x CSC: Life of a SWE, Tesla x Waterloo CSC: Tech Talk, and Project Program Hackathon.

I oversaw a 40% growth in club size in the past 1 year and 4 months, managing a team of 12 event coordinators and organizing 20+ events.

August 2021 - December 2022

UW Dhamaka

UW Dhamaka is Bollywood Dancing Club. Currently, I'm involved with UW Dhamaka as a Bollywood Hip-Hop Choreographer. Being of Indian origin, dancing to Bollywood songs evokes a sense of nostalgia, always translating to a fun experience and a fulfilling workout!

Conducted one workshop, attended 10+ workshops. I plan on joining the exec team and performace team.

September 2022 - Present

Kathak

Kathak, an intricate Indian classical dance form is an art I have been practicing for over 9 years. It connects me to my heritage roots while embracing the grace that comes with its movements. Through examinations and performances, I have learnt the historical significance behind this dance form.

I've showcased my skills in three live dance performances in front of a large audience. I passed Certificate 1 in 2015, Certificate 2 in 2017 and Higher Certificate 1 in 2019 with High Distinction. I'm on track to complete my diploma in 2026.

2014 - 2021

ASL Renison Continuing Education

I have always had the desire to learn ASL to foster connections within the ASL community. My IASLR project aims to simplify their lives through real-time translations in web meetings. Thus, I am committed to making their lives easier through the use of technology. To truly understand their world, I enrolled in ASL classes at Renison Continuing Education to better understand the intricacies and nuances that comes with their expressive language.

I plan on earning an official ASL certificate upon course completion.

September 2023 - Present

New Entrepreneurs of Ontario Club (NEO Club)

NEO Club is a platform for students to find opportunities to fund the creation of their idea and bring that idea into reality. With the help of the Ontario Summer Grant competition, our focus was to equip these students with the skills needed for effective business pitches, company proposals, and a deeper understanding of the relevant sector. Teams were categorized into 4 tracks aligned with their ideas, where they were provided 1-on-1 guidance.

I managed 18 projects in the Coding Track where 31% of team members advanced to the Ontario Summer Grant competition. 2 teams successfully initiated their start-ups.
